Lady Canes Receive Program's Highest Mark in PBC Preseason Poll

Building Momentum for 2025 Season

AMERICUS, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern State University women's soccer team received its highest mark in program history on Tuesday when the Peach Belt Conference released its annual preseason coaches poll. The Lady Hurricanes are picked to finish seventh of 11 schools, setting expectations while fueling a competitive fire as the season approaches.

Under the direction of second-year head coach Jacob Crawford, the Lady Hurricanes are riding the wave of a landmark 2024 season where they posted a program high in PBC victories (4) and tied their overall mark for most wins in a season (7). Highlights included a historic first-ever victory over University of North Georgia, a program-defining result that showcased the team's progress and resilience.

Looking ahead, Crawford and his staff will guide a roster that includes a talented class of 12 new players, adding depth and energy to a strong core of returners—an infusion that's poised to elevate the team's potential even further.

The Lady Hurricanes open their home slate "Under the Lights" on Thursday, September 4 at 7 p.m. against Brewton-Parker Christian University, featuring post-match fireworks to kick off the season with style.

As the season opener approaches, the stage is set for a memorable season, with GSW aiming to exceed expectations and continue making history in the PBC.
