AMERICUS, Ga. — Georgia Southwestern State University senior forward Cesar Rubio-Amaya has been named the Peach Belt Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Rubio-Amaya, a native of Woodbridge, Va., continued his remarkable scoring streak last week, finding the back of the net in both of GSW's matches. He now has nine goals on the season, having scored at least once in all eight of the Hurricanes' matches this fall.
In his first season with the Blue and Gold, Rubio-Amaya has quickly established himself as one of the top offensive threats in the country. He leads the Peach Belt Conference by a margin of five goals and also tops the league charts in points (18). Nationally, he ranks second in NCAA Division II in total goals, third in goals per game (1.13), and third in shot accuracy (0.722).
Rubio-Amaya's consistency has powered the Hurricanes to one of their strongest starts in recent seasons. His performance marks the first Peach Belt weekly honor of his GSW career. He becomes the Hurricanes first PBC Player of the Week since Sept. 11, 2023, and the fifth player in GSW's history to earn the award.
Georgia Southwestern returns to the pitch on Wednesday to host Clayton State University at 7 p.m., looking to build on its momentum behind one of the nation's most prolific scorers.
