ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — Behind a second-half goal from Axel-Ambroise Gravel, the Georgia Southwestern State University men's soccer team earned a 1–1 Peach Belt Conference draw at second-place Flagler College on Wednesday night at Saints Field — the third straight tie between the two programs.
The Hurricanes (4-6-3, 3-5-2 PBC) continued their strong run of play against one of the PBC's top teams, matching the Saints in both energy and execution through 90 minutes.
After a scoreless first half, Flagler broke through in the 56th minute when Henry Okenla finished from close range off a feed from Alex Alexandrou. Georgia Southwestern answered eight minutes later as Cesar Rubio-Amaya slipped a pass into the box for Gravel, who calmly buried the equalizer for his fifth goal of the season.
From there, the GSW defense — anchored by goalkeeper Nathan Grady with five saves — turned away a flurry of Flagler chances to preserve the result. The Hurricanes finished with eight shots, four of them on target, while holding the Saints to one goal on 13 attempts.
The draw marked Georgia Southwestern's third consecutive tie with Flagler and fourth in the last six meetings, as the Hurricanes continue to seek their first victory in the all-time series.
