AIKEN, S.C. -- The Georgia Southwestern State University women's soccer team rattled off its second straight Peach Belt Conference victory with a 2-0 win at the University of South Carolina Aiken on Saturday afternoon. It was only the second win all-time for GSW against USCA, and the first at the Pacer Pit.
Jocelyn Ramos intercepted a pass from the USCA goalkeeper in the 57th minute and deflected it into the goal to give the Lady Hurricanes the lead. The Pacers had a chance to even the score with a penalty kick in the 78th minute, but GSW goalkeeper Alana Beddow cradled the shot for a save and preserved the shutout. GSW added insurance in the 84th minute when Chloe Iuliano knocked in a pass into the box from Sydney Weslowski for her third goal of the season.
The GSW defense and Beddow turned in their third shutout of the fall. Beddow finished with a season-high nine saves.
The Lady Hurricanes look to set a program record for conference wins in a season when they return home to host Albany State University (1-10, 0-5 PBC) at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
