Falcons Soar Past Georgia Southwestern

MONTEVALLO, Ala. - Georgia Southwestern came up short Wednesday evening as Montevallo proved to have too many weapons as the Falcons soared past the Lady Hurricanes, 75-60, in Trustmark Arena.

Montevallo used 57 percent shooting and a fantastic first half effort from starting guard Zena Nasiloski (12 points, 5 rebounds) to jump out to a 39-25 lead heading into the locker rooms.

In the second period, Montevallo's lead swelled to as many as 20 points but the Lady Hurricanes rallied back and after a Danyelle Jones layup GSW got within seven points with seven minutes remaining in the contest.

The Falcons went on a 12-2 spurt over the next five minutes to put the game away as Montevallo (15-10, 10-6 PBC) finished the game shooting 54.5 percent from the field.

Georgia Southwestern (3-20, 1-15 PBC) was paced by freshman forward Jasmine McSwain's 14 points and five rebounds.

GSW's Ottishia Burden continued her recent strong play and finished with a career high 13 points.

Nasiloski led Montevallo with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Forward Taylor Beverly finished with a double-double as well with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Starting guard Trena-Moore Smith was the third Falcon to finish in double figures, chipping in 12 points and dishing out five assists.

Georgia Southwestern returns home for a Saturday Homecoming matinee versus Augusta State for a 1:30 p.m. tip.
