For a little over 75 minutes on Wednesday evening the Georgia
Southwestern women's soccer team played a scoreless match with
Georgia College in Milledgeville. Then, in the span of six and a
half minutes, GCSU put the Lady Hurricanes away with three goals
and went on to the 3-0 victory.
Katie Taylor broke the deadlock in the 76th minute with a score
off a corner kick. Taylor struck again 2:26 later for her fourth
goal of the season and Anna Wierzbicki put a shot from 20 yards out
over GSW goalkeeper Courtney Allison for the final score at the
81:40 mark.
Allison finished with nine saves. Mary Rob Plunkett stopped two
for GCSU.
Georgia College (3-3) held a 13-2 shots on goal advantage
for the match and led 12-2 in corner kicks.
Southwestern (2-5) returns home to host No. 10 Armstrong
Atlantic on Saturday at 5 p.m.
