A converted penalty kick was all No. 10 Armstrong Atlantic State
University could muster against a stingy Georgia Southwestern
defense for the first 63 minutes of Saturday's women's soccer match
at Hurricane Field. AASU added a goal at the 63:19 mark and went on
to a 2-0 victory.
GSW was whistled for taking down an Armstrong player inside the
box in the ninth minute and Emily Cattanach gave the Pirates a 1-0
lead when she converted the penalty kick for her fourth goal of the
season.
Morgan Mitchell provided the insurance goal for AASU (5-0-2, 2-0
PBC) when she headed a pass from Erin O'Rourke for her second score
in 2010.
GSW goalkeeper Courtney Allison finished
with eight saves.
Southwestern (2-6, 0-2) travels to Lander on Saturday for a
1 p.m. match.
