AMERICUS - Trent Dooley and Bud Long each had three-run home
runs in Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader as Georgia Southwestern
beat Montevallo 10-1 and 17-8.
Jody Sellars' perfect earned run average streak continued in the
second contest as he pitched a complete game, allowing no earned
runs on six hits to start the season 4-0.
Jared Allen had two hits and two RBI, and Chris Lingham and Zack
Stanton each had two hits for GSW (8-4, 2-0 PBC).
Dooley's homer to right field gave GSW a 3-0 lead, and Long's
extended the lead to 7-0 in the fourth.
Chris Sosebee and Kevin Garcia led Montevallo (6-14, 0-5) with
two hits apiece.
The Hurricanes built a 12-0 lead through four innings of Game 1
before Montevallo scored eight runs over the next four frames.
Kevin Carroll led GSW going 3-for-5 with two RBI, and Paschel
Poston was 2-for-4 with a double, three RBI and four runs scored.
Byron Haynes hit his fifth home run of the season, and Carroll
and Allen each had two doubles. Allen and Lingham each drove in two
runs.
Ryan Lackey (1-1) pitched 6.2 innings, allowing six runs on nine
hits. Brandon Reeder pitched the final 2.1 innings, allowing two
runs on four hits.
The final game of the series is at 1 p.m. today.
