GSW defeated Wesleyan College 4-0 and 4-0 Tuesday evening in
Macon.
Game one was scoreless until the sixth inning. The rally
started with two outs when five straight Southwestern batters
reached base. Heather Chambers and Nichole Griffin sandwiched
hits in between three Wesleyan errors to score four runs.
GSW had an opportunity to score in the third when Jessica Harris
and Anna Dankewich led off the inning with singles and the Lady
'Canes eventually had runners on second and third with one out, but
Wesleyan was able to close out the frame.
Mariko Nomura and Kimberlee Tolbert combined for the shutout for
Southwestern. Nomura (2-1) earned the win, pitching five innings
and allowing only three hits while striking out three and walking
one. Tolbert pitched two innings, didn't allow a hit, struck
out two and walked one.
In the nightcap, the Milstid sisters combined for a two-hit shutout
for GSW and the Lady 'Canes won 4-0.
Gabby Buck picked up two RBIs with her single in the third and
Heather Chambers had a two-run double in the fifth to complete the
scoring for Southwestern.
Brittany Milstid earned her first win of the season,
pitching five innings, allowing only two hits and striking out six.
Tiffany Milstid pitched a perfect final two frames and recorded
four strike outs.
GSW (4-4) travels to Georgia College today for a Peach Belt
Conference doubleheader starting at 2 p.m.
