Jordan Barrett will be entering his first season on staff with the Hurricanes as the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator.
Before GSW, Barrett spent the 2024 season as the pitching coach at Florida Southern College. In the 2024 season, opposing hitters had a .269 batting average against. Freshman Tanner Rollyson tied the pitching staff lead in wins with a 4-2 record. Sophomore pitcher Evan Mobley lowered his ERA from 8.44 in 2023 to a 4.45 in 2024.
Prior to Florida Southern College, Barrett spent the 2023 season with Polk State College. Barrett helped the Eagles to a 33-23 record. Freshman pitcher Evan Koehler earned All-FCSAA Second Team. Barrett led the pitching staff to breaking the program’s strikeout record with 507.
Barrett started his coaching career in 2022 as a volunteer assistant at Florida Southern College, where he assisted with the pitching staff. The Mocs pitching staff saw 4 pitchers earn All-SSC honors. Nate Madej was a 1st-Team All-SSC and 5-time SSC Pitcher of the Week award winner. Barrett's guidance in the bullpen helped the Florida Southern continue their 2022 season accolades with two pitchers named to the D2CCA All-South Region Team, one to the NCBWA All-South Region Second Team, and three pitchers to the ABCA South All-Region Second Team.
Prior to started his coaching career, Barrett had a 4 year career in professional baseball. The southpaw was an 18th round draft pick by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2017. Over two season in the organization, Barrett saw appearances across four different levels including, Advanced Rookie, Short Season A, A, and AA. In 2019 and 2021, Barrett pitched for the Gateway Grizzlies in the Frontier League.
Barrett, who is a Margate, FL native, graduated with a Sports Management degree from Elon University, where he played in 2016 and 2017. Prior to Elon, Barrett played at Polk State in 2014 and 2015.
