Trey Chapman is entering his second season with the Hurricanes and works primarily with the hitters. Chapman is also responsible for all turf maintenance across all Georgia Southwestern athletic facilities.

During the 2025 season, Georgia Southwestern’s offense was in the Top 5 in most Offensive Categories (batting average, hits, doubles, triples, runs batted in and walks). While simultaneously striking out the third-least amount in the Peach Belt. Two players were named All-Conference, first team Cory Lee and second team George Davis. Senior 1B Paul Hegeman tied the single season RBI record in the 2025 season. grad transfer SS Jarrett Jenkins also reached the single season record of hit By pitches with 20.

Prior to GSW, Chapman served as an assistant coach and eventual recruiting coordinator at Louisburg College in Louisburg, North Carolina. His responsibilities there were to lead the recruiting efforts, hitters, infielders and outfielders.

During the 2024 season, Louisburg College finished the year 34-22 and 25-10 in conference play which resulted in a second place finish in the West Division. The Canes offense was top 5 in Region X in average, hits, runs, doubles, home runs and RBIs. There were five guys named to all Region X (1 First Team, 3 Second Team, 1 All-Defensive).

In 2023, LC finished 25-26-1 and 5-14-1 in conference play which resulted in a seventh place finish in the conference. Three Canes were named all Region X (1 Second Team, 2 All Defensive Team).

In 2022, LC finished 31-22 and 11-11 in conference play. 4 guys were named all Region X (2 First Team, 2 Second Team) with Brian Wilson being named Defensive Player of the Year.

Prior to Louisburg, Chapman was an assistant at Francis Marion University for two years where he worked with hitters and infielders. He was also responsible for field maintenance and assisted in recruiting.

In Chapman’s second season with the Patriots, Todd Mattox was a consensus first team all-region and an honorable-mention all-American. Mattox led the Patriots in almost every offensive category including reaching base safely in every contest that season.

Prior to coaching, Chapman spent two years as a player at Francis Marion University. He also spent two seasons at Southern Union State Community College in Wadley, Ala.

Chapman is a native of Hampton, Ga., and a 2019 graduate of Francis Marion where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree specializing in marketing. Chapman is married to the former Erin Bell of Lynchburg, Tennessee. The two married in December of 2024 and have a daughter, Andie (eight months).
