AMERICUS, Ga. — The Georgia Southwestern State University women's soccer team dropped its Peach Belt Conference opener on Saturday evening, falling 2-0 to Columbus State at Hurricane Field.
After a scoreless first half, the Cougars broke through in the 58th minute when Sarah Hungerford finished a cross from Michelle Medina and Kendal Coreil. Columbus State doubled its advantage in the 84th minute, with Payton Conti converting off an assist from Ui Suzuki to seal the match.
The Hurricanes were limited to one shot on the night, while Columbus State tallied 16 shots, including eight on target.
Goalkeeper Alana Beddow kept GSW within reach for most of the match, recording six saves, including four in the second half.
