HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The Georgia Southwestern State University men's soccer team delivered a pair of goals in a three-minute span late in the second half to answer scores by the University of Alabama at Huntsville on Thursday evening at Charger Park only to fall a goal short of the hosts in a 4-3 setback.
UAH caught the Hurricanes off guard early, striking in the fifth minute to take the lead. Axel-Ambroise Gravel evened the match in the 37th minute for GSW and the teams were tied 1-1 at the break.
Oli Orzechowski punched in the second of his three scores for UAH coming out of halftime with a quick strike in the 49th minute. The Chargers led the rest of the way.
Jonathan Bedard brought GSW within a goal in the 71st minute, 3-2, but Orzechowski answered 35 seconds later. It took all of 88 seconds for Cesar Rubio-Amaya to pull the Hurricanes back within a goal, however time would run out before GSW could deliver the equalizer.
The Hurricanes outshot UAH 15-10 and took three more corner kicks, 10-7. GSW was whistled for six more fouls, 18-12, and two more yellow cards, 4-2.
