AMERICUS, Ga. – Georgia Southwestern State University junior guard
Amir Reaves has been named the Peach Belt Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced Monday, after leading the Hurricanes to a pair of decisive victories.
Reaves poured in 23 points in both contests, leading all scorers in each game as Georgia Southwestern posted two wins by 20-plus points for the week. The junior showcased efficiency and balance on the offensive end, shooting 64 percent from the field over the two games, knocking down 4-of-6 from three-point range (67 percent), and going a perfect 10-for-10 at the free throw line.
In addition to his scoring output, Reaves contributed on both ends of the floor, pulling down six rebounds in each game and averaging 1.5 steals for the week. His all-around play helped GSW control tempo and maintain momentum throughout both matchups.
A first-year Hurricane from Syracuse, N.Y., Reaves has quickly emerged as a consistent scoring threat within the Peach Belt. Through the opening stretch of the season, he currently ranks seventh in the conference in scoring average, continuing to solidify his role as one of the league's top perimeter guards.
GSW returns from its holiday break on Saturday, Jan. 3 to host a 7:45 p.m. PBC game against Georgia College & State University.
