Record-Breaking Week Propels Jackson to PBC Weekly Award

AMERICUS, Ga. — Georgia Southwestern State University junior Shane' Jackson has been selected as the Peach Belt Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday, after delivering one of the most efficient and dominant stretches in program history.

Jackson erupted for a career-high 30 points on 14-for-15 shooting in an 81-49 win over Auburn Montgomery on Saturday, pairing her scoring outburst with 11 rebounds and four blocks to secure the first double-double of her collegiate career. Her 14 made field goals tie the GSW single-game record, and her 93.3 percent shooting stands as the best field goal percentage in program history for a player attempting at least 10 shots.

The junior from Brunswick, Ga., was unstoppable all week. In Tuesday's exhibition at NCAA Division I Jacksonville University, she poured in 21 points in just 17 minutes, finishing 10-for-12 from the floor. Combined with Saturday's performance, Jackson shot a staggering 24-for-27 (88.9%) over the two contests.

With this honor, Jackson becomes the first GSW post player to earn PBC Player of the Week recognition since Kayla Langley on December 12, 2022, continuing the Lady Hurricanes' tradition of excellence in the paint. Now in her third season at Georgia Southwestern, Jackson has stepped seamlessly into a leadership role as the team's lone returning player and is quickly establishing herself as one of the conference's elite interior threats.

Georgia Southwestern returns to action this week as the Lady Hurricanes look to build on the momentum sparked by Jackson's historic play.
