AMERICUS, Ga. – The Georgia Southwestern men's basketball team will begin the 2025–26 season under new head coach Kevin O'Connor, who takes over a program looking to make an immediate impact in Peach Belt Conference play.
O'Connor said he is ready to bring a new style and energy to the Hurricanes this year.
"We're going to play an exciting brand of basketball," O'Connor said. "We have a team with a lot of depth."
The Hurricanes return four players from last season and have added ten newcomers to the roster. The mix has helped build competition and chemistry during the preseason.
Senior guard Deonte Williams said the relationships within the group have been a strong point early on.
"Connections and relationships have been really good," Williams said.
When asked about his goals for the season, Williams said his focus is on team success first.
"I want the team to have success before I think about individual goals," he said.
O'Connor said the team's depth will play a major role in how they compete this season. With a full roster and renewed energy, the Hurricanes are focused on building a strong foundation under their new coach.
The Hurricanes open their season on November 14th, in Hartsville, S.C. to take on Converse University.
