AMERICUS, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern State University women's soccer team suffered a 2-1 loss to Rollins College on Thursday night in their 2024 home opener at Hurricane Field.
Lucia Bustamante dropped a shot over the Rollins goalkeeper from the right side in the 38th minute following a lead pass from Siaomee Bagnost to even the match at 1-1, but the Tars found the back of the net less than a minute later for the final score of the night.
GSW starting goalkeeper Bella Morey stopped one shot in the first half before making way for Alana Beddow who turned away two shots over a scoreless final 45 minutes.
The Lady Hurricanes matched Rollins (3-0) with four shots in the second half to have a chance at the equalizer, but will now look to Saturday's non-conference match at Brewton-Parker College (0-3) for their first result of the season. Start time in Mt. Vernon, Ga. is 5 p.m.
