Lady Canes Upset North Georgia, Win Fourth Consecutive PBC Match

DAHLONEGA, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern State University women's soccer team made program history once again on Saturday afternoon with a 1-0 win at the University of North Georgia by extending their longest conference winning streak to four matches and by earning their first win in the all-time series against the Nighthawks. The Lady Hurricanes entered Saturday's contest scoreless against UNG since the 2018 season and winless in the previous 19 meetings.

GSW handed UNG its first conference loss of the season with the upset and its second overall (8-2-1, 4-1-1 PBC). With a Peach Belt Conference record of 4-2 under first-year head coach Jacob Crawford, the Lady Hurricanes have set the program's high mark for wins in a season.

A beautiful long lead pass from near midfield in the 48th minute by Jocelyn Ramos led Cassidy Brunner towards the goal in a one-on-one situation after she beat the defender to the ball. From there, Brunner rolled a shot past the UNG keeper for the game winner. It was the freshman's fourth goal of the fall.

The GSW defense turned in its third consecutive shutout and fifth overall for the season. PBC Goalkeeper of the Week Alana Beddow made five saves to post the clean sheet.

The Lady Hurricanes travel to Columbus, Ga., Wednesday to face No. 3 Columbus State University (11-0-1, 5-0 PBC) at 6 p.m.
