Bobcat's Pounce Past Lady 'Canes 73-64

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga.- The Georgia Southwestern women's basketball team (13-11, 7-10 PBC) had a tough loss Saturday night against Georgia College (13-11, 9-8 PBC) at the Centennial Center.

Tiara Thompson continues to lead GSW in points per game, this time with seventeen. Shatoria Hudson and Shanedra Lockett both had twelve points and five rebounds a piece. Hudson made GSW's first basket of the game with a 3-pointer to put them ahead 3-2. Georgia College was able to come back take the lead with two free throws but Lockett and Danisha Green both put in baskets to take it back by three points. Thompson and Lockett put in two more and took a five point lead five minutes in.

GSW was ahead for most of the first until Georgia College put in a free throw and two lay ups to take the lead by six and was able to keep the lead going into the second with a score of 33-25.

The Lady 'Canes made four of the first five baskets in the second. Thompson, Hudson, Green and Lockett each put in a 2-pointer to trail by two and Thompson put in another to tie the game 35-35. GSW took the lead back after Thompson put in a  3-pointer with 14:28 left on the clock. The Lady 'Canes held the lead for over seven minutes until Georgia College tied it up with 7:03 to go. Green and Lockett both put in baskets to try and keep the lead and Yvonna Dunkley added two more points to take a four point advantage with 4:43 left.

Georgia College put up two 3-pointer, three lay ups and made six free throws in the last four minutes to win the game 73-64.

Georgia College out shot GSW 45.6% to 36.8% and out rebounded 50-35.

The Lady 'Canes are back on the road Wednesday to face North Georgia at 5:30 p.m.
