AMERICUS - The Georgia Southwestern tennis teams had their hands full with Armstrong Atlantic State University in a pair of 9-0 decisions on Saturday afternoon at the Susan K. Smith Tennis Complex. The Armstrong women are ranked No. 1 in NCAA Division II. The Armstrong men are ranked No. 2 in D-II.

The Lady Hurricanes fall to 1-2 overall, 0-1 in the Peach Belt Conference, and Fort Valley 0-5.

Juniors Carly Cangelosi and Victoria Ondo took two games off the southeast region's top doubles team of Aleksndra Filipovski and Barbora Krtickova.

Sophomore Sydnee Smith had Southwestern's best showing in singles as she won three games in the second set against the country's 16th-ranked Division II player, Marlen Hacke.

On the men's side, the Hurricanes drop to 0-3 overall and 0-1 in PBC play. It was Armstrong's first match of the spring.

The Pirates' Pedro Scocuglia and Damian Okrutny felt a push from Stephen Moore and Oliver Marshall in an 8-4 decision at No. 2 doubles.

Abel Acuna took Luca Cerin of Armstrong to a tiebreaker in the second set of their match at No. 5 singles. Cerin won 6-2, 7-6 (7-4).

Both GSW teams travel to Shorter University for 1:45 p.m. matches on Sunday.
