Pacers Pull Away From Lady Canes

AMERICUS - Georgia Southwestern allowed a pair of goals to USC Aiken in the first half on Saturday afternoon en route to a 5-0 defeat in Peach Belt Conference women's soccer action at Hurricane Field.

Megan Smits led the Pacers' attack with the first-half goals in the 9th and 30th minutes. Jenna Beauregard (49'), Tori Caldwell (55') and Hazel Kelly (74') scored in the second half for USCA. Teammate Caroline Gillespie added two assists over the afternoon.

USCA controlled shots on goal (27-5) and corner kicks (13-0).

Sophomore Chelsee Wright saved a season-high 16 shots during her 66 minutes between the pipes for GSW. Senior Kendal Baskin stopped four over the final 24 minutes. The 22 saves in the match marked the most by the Lady Hurricanes in a contest this season.

Southwestern travels to No. 5 Columbus State on Wednesday for a 6 p.m. tilt with the Cougars.
