Georgia Southwestern got the hitting and pitching when it needed
on Sunday.
Trent Dooley was 4-for-5 with four RBI in Game 1, and Jody
Sellars pitched five scoreless and struck out seven as the
Hurricanes beat Barry University 12-8 and 3-2.
GSW produced five runs in the fifth inning to take an 8-7 lead
and then two more in each the sixth and seventh innings of the
first game.
Dooley, Bud Long, Paschel Poston and Kevin Carroll all had
doubles for GSW; Long was 2-for-4 and scored three runs.
Ryan Lackey got the win, pitching four innings. He allowed four
runs - three earned - while striking out five and walking three.
Tyler Daniel, Corey Hawes and Chris Carroll combined to pitch 3
2/3 scoreless innings, allowing one hit to finish the game.
GSW led 3-0 in Game 2 when Barry scored a run in the seventh and
ninth innings.
Dooley, Poston and Byron Haynes had doubles, and Long hit a solo
home run to left field in the third.
Poston and Haynes each had two hits, and Poston drove in two
runs.
Brandon Reeder pitched three innings allowing one run, and Chris
Carroll allowed one run in the ninth before recording the save.
The Hurricanes travel to Valdosa State on Tuesday.
