Lady Hurricanes lose to No.
17-ranked Francis Marion
Francis Marion converted 42 GSW turnovers into 41 points as it
scored a conference-high for points in a 112-68 win over the Lady
Hurricanes.
GSW (6-15, 1-13) shot 54 percent in the second half and 46
percent for the game; Francis Marion shot 56 percent overall.
Brittany Reynolds led the Lady Hurricanes, making 8 of 11 field
goals for 18 points, and Arile Hadley scored 10.
Eboni Fields led seven Lady Patriots (19-1, 12-1) in double
figures with 17 points; Kevina Ransom had 13 points with 11
assists.
Francis Marion held a 54-28 advantage in points in the paint and
33-12 in fast break points.
The Lady Hurricanes host Clayton State on Wednesday, February
11, for a 5:30 p.m. Peach Belt Conference contest.
Wednesday night is "Pack the House in Pink" at the Storm Dome
in support of breast cancer awareness. Fans are encouraged to
wear pink and halftime activities are planned as part of
the event.

Francis Marion defeats GSW,
73-52
Georgia Southwestern shot a season-low 29 percent as the
Hurricanes lost on the road at Francis Marion, 73-52, on Saturday.
Anthony Sargent scored 14 points, and Chris Rawls had 12 to lead
GSW (8-13, 4-10).
The Hurricanes were out-rebounded 46-19, and they allowed the
Patriots to shoot 56 percent for the game and 60 percent in the
second half. Francis Marion held a 42-14 edge in points in the
paint and 17-5 in second chance points.
"It was just a tough day for us," said coach Mike Leeder. "We
didn't play very well, and we didn't play very hard. We'll have to
pick up a road win somewhere to get in the tournament."
GSW trailed 40-27 at intermission and cut the lead to nine at
41-32 early in the second half on a Sargent layup. But Francis
Marion scored the next eight points, and the Hurricanes never got
closer than 13 the rest of the way.
Sam Smith, an Americus High alum, led the Patriots with 14
points; Crayton Jones had 12, and Matt French scored 11.
The Hurricanes host Clayton State on Wednesday, February
11, for a 7:30 p.m. Peach Belt Conference contest.
