The GSW men's tennis team ended their Peach Belt Conference play in 2008 on a high note defeating North Georgia 5-4 on Thursday afternoon in Dahlonega.

The Hurricanes took two of three doubles matches. Brent Bjerregard and Brenton Hochstetler won in the #1 position, defeating Gustavo Carballal and Grant Patrick 8-3. Ian Monroe and Wes Adam won at #2, defeating Santiago Carballal and Daniel Aguilon 9-7.

On the singles side, Bjerregaard beat G. Carballal 6-0, 6-1 at #1, Brenton Hochstetler defeated S. Carballal in three sets 6-0, 4-6, 6-3 at #2 and Brandon Hochstetler won at #3 over Patrick 6-3, 6-4.

The GSW men wrap up their '08 season today against Shorter College and Barry College in Rome, GA.

Also in action on Thursday, the Lady 'Canes tennis team played their final match of the season against North Georgia. Despite a strong effort, GSW came up short and lost 6-3 in Dahlonega.

Leady Cuellar and Anna Faust had another impressive doubles performance at #1 defeating Brittany Smith and Katherine Harrison 8-2. Faust also won her singles match at #2 against Velina Boteva 6-0, 6-1. The final GSW victory was at #6 singles where senior Laura Snyder, in her last match for the Lady 'Canes, beat Catie Murphy 6-4, 7-5.
