The Georgia Southwestern State University women's tennis team
swept Albany State 9-0 Tuesday afternoon at the Susan K. Smith
Athletic Complex on the campus of GSW.
In doubles matches, at #1, Anna Faust and Leady Cuellar defeated
Dominique Lambert and Dominique Green 8-0. At #2, Sarah Harrington
and Monica Osam topped Traci Carswell and Tonya Huggins-Vire 8-3.
At #3, Katie Adamson and Ashley Waters knocked off Diana Chira and
Patrice Rachel 8-4.
On the singles side, at #1, Cuellar defeated Lambert 6-0, 6-0.
Faust defeated Huggins-Vire at #2, 6-2, 6-0. Harrington topped
Green at #3, 6-0, 6-0. At #4 it was Amber Humphrey from GSW over
Chira 6-1, 6-0. At #5, Blake West defeated Carswell from ASU 6-0,
6-0 and Laura Snyder led the Hurricanes to a victory in the #6
slot, defeating Rachel 6-2, 6-2.
The visiting Rams were only able to take 14 games from GSW.
The Hurricanes improve to 4-11 on the season. GSW heads to
Tuskegee, Ala. next Tuesday, March 18 to take on Tuskegee
University in non-conference action.
